Award Categories

There are six awards. Choose the one that best fits your nominee by carefully reading the description for each. To nominate someone for more than one award, please submit a separate form. Nominees for all awards except Friend of Child Nutrition must be active SNA members. If you have any questions about the appropriate award for your nominee, please call us at 417-234-2296.

Golden Star Director of School Nutrition Award

School Nutrition Director of the Year
A foodservice director who demonstrates outstanding achievement in leadership, spirit/dedication, innovation, career awards, management/systems, humanitarianism/community involvement, and bettering the lives of students.

Silver Star School Nutrition Awards

	Leadership Award A director who demonstrates outstanding leadership, dedication, fiscal achievement, and innovation in menuing and merchandising.
	Spirit Award A person in a management position such as an assistant director or coordinator who shows commitment to the people and programs of school nutrition and distinguishes her/himself through innovative programs, marketing, training, customer service, and/or staff motivation.
	Rising Star Award (Three or fewer years of experience) A director whose contributions make a marked difference in the district's school nutrition program.
	Special Achievement Award (10,000 or fewer enrollment) A director who demonstrates exceptional ability to recognize and solve problems unique to small districts.
	Friend of Child Nutrition Award Advocate of school nutrition such as a principal, state association representative, or community leader. Supports school nutrition beyond the scope of normal professional duties. Child nutrition directors and department heads are NOT eligible for this award.

Eligibility Rules
Nominees

All school nutrition professionals who are members of SNA, in addition to special supporters of school nutrition, are eligible for nomination.
In a given year, a school nutrition professional may be nominated and judged for both Silver Star Award and the Golden Star Award, but may win in only one category, with the Golden Star Award taking precedence.
While director nominees are limited to receiving one Silver Star Award during their careers as directors, they are also eligible to receive the Golden Star Award.
Career changes may make past FAME Award winners eligible to receive different FAME Awards. Past FAME Award winners are not eligible to receive the same award.
All winners must be in good standing with the industry.
Employees of the sponsoring companies and/or their agencies are not eligible.
Any one nominator may only nominate two (2) unique nominees in a single nomination period.

Selection committee and sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any nominee or winner.
